Unfinished Love Story

About this poem

This poem explores the quiet magic of unspoken attraction between a passionate young woman and a reserved Leo man who become lab partners in chemistry class. Their connection hums in the space between words — tender, magnetic, and ultimately restrained — culminating in a poignant final goodbye.

The Lady and her Lion

She was a focused, fiery girl,
her spirit like a burning flame,
one that could light up the whole damn class,
or leave them stunned by her brilliance and grace.

Yet she was known for her flirtatious spark,
a single glance could steal any heart.

He was a man wrapped in mystery,
Silent charm in the corner, quiet and free.

Then ice and fire met one day,
in the chemistry of fate and chance at play,
two opposites pulled into the same room,
And the reaction bloomed, haunting yet doomed.

They never spoke the words aloud,
just let the current hum between the crowd.
They became lab partners, and so it started,
A silent story, tender and uncharted.

She read the longing in his quiet stare,
he asked her out without a single word there.
But she was bound by norms and values deep,
and though her heart ached, she could not leap.

Still, he stayed beside her every class,
Unchanged, unwavering, calm as brass.
After all, they were lab partners, side by side,
A fragile world they chose not to divide.

He was her Leo man, lazy, yet magnetic,
quietly charismatic, sweetly eccentric.
He missed her when she stayed away from class;
she’d send a note: “I won’t be there,” soft as glass.

And he grew restless in her empty seat,
making every small mistake, chemistry off-beat.
Perhaps it was love, or something just as true,
quietly blooming in the space between the two.

His silence said what words could never name.
he was missing her, a quiet, steady flame.

The semester drew to its final breath,
the last exam came with August’s death.
She arrived late, the room already still,
everyone else had finished at their will.

She grabbed her paper, racing against the clock,
while he had finished early, ready to walk.
He stood to leave, then paused at the door.
This was the end, and they both knew the score.

He looked back once, for one unspoken goodbye,
eyes full of everything words couldn’t supply.
Then he turned and walked away without a sound,
leaving their silent story on the ground.
